arc|planet 2012 Germany: Event Highlights
by Stefanie Haase
It’s conference season at arcplan! Though we hold smaller arc|planet events in other countries, like Korea and the upcoming BeNeLux conference, the big kahuna is our annual German users conference, held last week at the Park Inn in Kaarst, Germany. Around 200 attendees including customers, prospects and partners showed up for the two-day event – a mix of more than 20 presentations from business intelligence experts and arcplan customers, break-outs, networking and of course, a little fun.
We must thank our ten arc|planet 2012 partner sponsors – and most especially Ernst & Young as our main event sponsor – for working with us to enable this great conference!
Keynotes and Featured Presentations
Wojtek Czyz kicked things off with a keynote called “Everything’s Possible.” Mr. Czyz lost his lower left leg in 2001 when he was an aspiring soccer player and turned that setback into Paralympics Gold and Silver medals in Athens, Beijing, and London. He gave us insight into his life and success, inspiring us all to have confidence and believe that a combination of willpower and determination can make anything work.
Our own CEO Roland Hölscher delivered a keynote on the theme of the conference, “It simply works,” a message we saw fit to be our company tagline and one that describes our drive for simplicity in the arcplan platform. Mr. Hölscher also provided a brief preview of our next major release (code named “Xenon”), which maintains the concept of simplicity yet provides an even more improved user experience across multiple applications, including mobile devices.

by Stefanie Haase
Our annual user conference, arc|planet 2012, is fast approaching. We hope German-speaking arcplan users, developers, partners, and guests will join us at the Park Inn in Düsseldorf/Kaarst on October 30th and 31st for 2 days of presentations, networking, and of course, a little fun. By registering this week, attendees will save 30% off the conference price, making this one-of-a-kind event only 546 €.
This year’s theme echos arcplan’s tagline, “It simply works.” Participants will hear more than 20 talks on the latest business intelligence and planning innovations and trends, including mobile BI and big data, from arcplan customers and industry experts. The conference will open with a unique keynote speech by Paralympics athlete Wojtek Czyz. In his address, “Everything’s Possible,” the winner of several gold medals in Athens and Beijing will inspire attendees with a talk about personal challenges and how to overcome them. Also speaking are Martin Wilcox, Director of Product & Solution Marketing EMEA at Teradata, who will discuss how to “Do More With Your (Big) Data,” as well as representatives from Daimler AG, B|S|H, Hailo, Ineos, the Elster Group, Scout 24 and Deutsche Telekom.
Rounding out the conference will be presentations on the latest updates to our product suite and our roadmap led by arcplan experts.
An exciting addition to this year’s line-up is a presentation by the 2012 arc|ademy BI Challenge winners, who will present their arcplan solutions to the public for the first time.
In parallel to the main arc|planet program, there will also be an exhibition featuring the solutions and products of arcplan partners (and arc|planet sponsors) antares, b.telligent, Braincourt, Ernst & Young, Partake Consulting, SALT Solutions, Selbach Information Systems, Synaxus BI Solutions, TDWI Europe and Teradata.

arc|platform 2012 Partner Conference Recap
by Stefanie Haase
Last Thursday & Friday, March 15th-16th, we held our largest partner conference in history at the Atlantic Hotel in Essen, Germany. More than 140 international participants – including arcplan partners, systems integrators, and resellers from Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, India, China, and Morocco – joined us for 2 days of presentations, networking, awards, and even a little friendly competition (attendees enjoyed a slotcar racing competition that highlighted our theme of “speed up your business”). Sincere thanks to our sponsors Teradata (Platinum), Oracle (Gold & Evening) and Amorsys (Gold) as well as our presenters!
The conference provided the opportunity for arcplanners (as we fondly call ourselves) to share updates on our company vision, product development, and sales strategies with our partners. They discussed the new arcplan 7 BI platform, its roadmap, and how arcplan is continuing to stay ahead of trends in self-service, mobile, cloud, and collaborative BI. Our CEO, Roland Hölscher (pictured right), delivered an inspiring keynote on these topics and highlighted how arcplan enables customers and partners to simplify and accelerate decision-making by 1) easily connecting users with all relevant information sources, 2) providing integrated solutions for analyzing the past and planning for the future, and 3) making critical business insight available in real-time, anywhere on any device. In addition, he announced arcplan’s support for SAP HANA with our latest version, solidifying us as the #1 BI front-end for SAP environments.
As for the other presentations at arc|platform, there were too many excellent ones to mention them all, but here’s a few highlights…
